About us

Hi, welcome to Liverpool Gurukulam. I (Yuvaraj) and my wife, Archana, started this initiative together. We both are PhD graduates from Liverpool University, working full-time in the Insurance and utilities industries. We have a daughter, Aadya, who studying in secondary school.

During COVID our daughter was lucky to get in a sloka class run by Sanatana Dharma society. The class was taught by Guru Nanduri Srinivas and this class ran for a year every Saturday. There were hundreds of students from all over the world, but very few from the UK. During this session, our daughter learned a lot of slokas and we were delighted whenever she recited them for festivals. We have seen this has immensely helped her personality and she was very capable of fluently communicating in Telugu.

Once the classes had stopped, she was slowly losing touch and forgetting the slokas. To continue to learn the slokas and, at the same time, not to lose touch with the Telugu language we have started Liverpool Gurukulam in January 2022.

Initially, we started with just getting a few friends’ children to teach the same slokas that our daughter has learned. Later we understood that all the parents are also keen to teach Telugu to their children but due to work commitments, it never happens. So, to solve this issue we have included a Telugu section in our class. 

In Santana Dharma classes, during COVID time, Guru Nanduri Srinivas Garu used to tell stories from Mahabharata and other moral stories at the end of each class. These stories reminded us of our childhood, and we want to continue the same in the Liverpool Gurukulam classes. We teach moral values through stories from Mahabharat, Panchatantra, Ramayana, etc.

We also added a technology section related to kids and parents, which is important to be aware of these days as children use phones and other electronic devices every day.

1) Liverpool Balaji Group:

We co-ordinate and run monthly Pooja to Lord Venkateswara in Liverpool every last Sunday of the month. 

2) Liverpool Grammar School Preparation:

We both do initial help and guide parents who are keen to prepare their children for the 11+ exam for Liverpool Blue Coat School.
